Mai Thai’s Market is the newest of several dining additions to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. The indoor restaurant and dining space is a dramatic transformation of the building, which previously housed a secondary zoo gift shop and a 4D theater experience. The design intent of the project was to create an indoor dining extension to The Grove, a mobile food concept dining area that has become incredibly popular at the zoo. Inside Mai Thai’s Market, visitors can purchase food, coffee, and ice cream at multiple ordering locations. Located centrally in the dining space is is a large communal dining experience where demonstrations and animal encounters can occur. Reclaimed red oak has also been incorporated in design elements throughout the restaurant to create a warm and inviting dining environment.
